Allegro Sport/Trainer...

Fantasy Air - History

The aeroplane first flew in 1995 when it was known as the Cora and there are now nearly 500 flying around the world. In 1999 a new longer wing with tapered outer panels was developed by aeronautical design consultants Vanessa Air and the new model was designated the Allegro 2000. A new shorter span wing is also available as the SW model and in the UK this would be 450kg microlight version. The SW is also very popular in France where most hangars are under 10m wide. The Allegro has been continuously developed and was in at the very beginning when the USA Light Sport aircraft category was formed in 2004, as it was the 3rd aircraft to receive FAA certification as a factory built Light Sport S-LSA aircraft . A new model was announced in 2007 that apart from a higher and wider cockpit, has numerous other improvements in both comfort and flying performance, as a direct result of listening to owners, flying schools, and dealers worldwide. Further improvements came in 2008 in the form of composite doors with "Domed" windows which give an extra 10cm (4inches) shoulder room in an already roomy cockpit. Production was transferred to the USA in 2009 under a partnership with an existing LSA manufacturer to minimise the cost effects of the poor Dollar to Euro exchange rate.

Economical

The Allegro is inexpensive to own and run yet offers excellent performance. The unusual combination of metal flying surfaces and composite fuselage combine simple construction and low drag resulting in consumption of just 11.0 litres/hr at 88 knots, which equates to over 40 mpg!

Multi-role

The Allegro is an efficient and well-designed aircraft that is well suited to touring, training and sport flying around the world. The 80hp version is very popular in the USA, the Australians prefer the 100hp in their hot climate, the SW is widely used in French flying schools and the floatplane version has sold well in Scandinavia.

Practicality and performance

Comfortable and adjustable seating, large doors, a huge baggage area that is accessible in flight, low noise and fast economical cruise speeds make it an excellent tourer. With its short take off and landing capabilities, there are very few places an Allegro cannot go.

It’s precise handling, forgiving flying characteristics, excellent visibility and sturdy construction makes it is a great training aircraft.

The Allegro can be fitted with floats, glider towing equipment and long range tanks.(subject to approval in the UK)

A wide range of options and colour graphic designs are available to personalise the aircraft to each owner’s specification and colour scheme. There is no reason why any two Allegros should look or be the same.

Safe sport flying

The Allegro is a well proven design with excellent flight qualities. It is stable and manoeuvrable and the seating position gives good forward visibility for landing. Electric 48 degree flaps allow stall speeds of <35 knots with short landings and roll out, thanks to powerful hydraulic disc brakes.

The spacious cockpit with its relaxed sports car style seats, that are adjustable for both height and reach ensure a comfortable flying environment. A low-mounted dash combined with a standard fit full width roof window and low domed doors, give great visibility
