The QBK has been designed for aviation enthusiasts who want to have the satisfaction of flying an aircraft which they have actually built. The QBK is supplied to provide builders who have only basic mechanical ability with a project that they can complete in as little as 250 hours using normal DIY tools. No special tools are necessary.
The majority of the airframe is finished and has been prepared by the factory using the same jigs and tools which make the ready to fly aircraft. The wing structure is completed and the wing struts, elevator and rudder are also finished, ready for final fitting and painting. The QBK also contains the electric controls for the flaps, engine covers, pre-assembled front undercarriage leg and completed main undercarriage legs.

The welding of the important central section of wing/fuselage is completed, tested and painted and it is already installed into the fuselage using factory jigs and tooling. The wing, struts, tail-plane and main undercarriage legs have already been pre-installed, levelled and adjusted, then drilled in the correct places before being disassembled for the builder to simply re-assemble. This gives the correct wing and tail incidence without the need for any special alignment tools
Build time needed for assembling the airframe by the homebuilder is around 200 hours, with another 50 hours for the engine and instruments. The aircraft should completed in around 250 hours.
A very comprehensive and illustrated construction manual comes with each kit and assistance is available over the phone at any time, or by a visit if necessary, as we have already built a kit and been to the factory many times, so we can pass lots of hints and tips. We also have an inspector available for the various stages and complete aircraft sign off.
Flying Instruments and paint are not normally included in the QBK to allow your own choice of colour and instrument type/combination or use a Dynon or similar EFIS glass cockpit display for a worthwhile weight saving. We can supply these items separately, just ask for a quote for your requirements. You also have a choice of colour vinyl graphics which are included in the kit.
